Re: FutureQuest, Inc. is closing our virtual doors on or before July 14th, 2023

"Sadly, this left us with little time for clients to move."

This one is going to be tough for us. I think we have been here 23 years, I remember 9/11 and being hosted by FQ.
Just so you know, why we are here, it was and is a family company. I remember the family breakup, and praying for all of you. We still do, and still will.
We have all been hit by the Governments reaction to COVID, as well as our response to it. We took on debt that we never needed to.

The rapid inflation has hit our CoGS (material costs) we raise prices, China does not. Similar products, lower quality, made in America often does not win.

Our family company would have stayed with you till the day we died. I even have software to send our login credentials to a partner should I not respond in 20 days.

Peace to you and all in the FQ family.

I've just noticed you are saying "on or before July 14th". Can you guarantee a certain amount, e.g. 7 days, because having the plug pulled without decent warning wouldn't be good.

Thanks, FutureQuest, for all your help over the years.

A friend recommended DreamHost https://www.dreamhost.com/ and SiteGround https://www.siteground.com/

I didn't care for the DreamHost interface when I used it many years ago. Maybe it's improved?

I'd appreciate any thoughts others have about hosting options.

I know what I'll be working on for the next couple of weeks!

Oh, and this is why you should always check your spam folder. Since that's where I found the closure message. Just before a client sent an email asking for help.

Talk about being left in the dark. I'm leaving the country in 6 days for vacation. Anyway I guess it doesn't matter now but if you had come to us maybe there would have been possibilities. Rather than go through this nightmare and pay someone else double, I would have rather paid you double if it would have kept you in business.

It would really help us (on such short notice) if you would give us one or two host recommendations. You guys are in the industry and could at least tell us who the best of the worst are.

Lastly, a short list instructions of how to FTP our files out would really help. I suspect there will be a lot of people spending hours trying to rescue everything. Maybe not.

This is just horrible for everyone involved. You and us.

So very sorry to see you go, it is the end of an era. Thank you for having been our host. Where ever we go next you will be metric in our decision.

The "on or before" wording is legal verbiage recommendation from counsel as we are not in control of the time frame to vacate. Sadly - I cannot say more than that at this time as it's an ongoing matter.

Sorry to hear about the decision on closing the doors. Good to be with you for the 22 years of it as you try to keep things affordable and provide excellence in service and support. Best of luck to everyone on your next endeavors.

I know that DreamHost's reputation is rather good, and if I were looking, they'd be on my list. Another one would be DigitalOcean.

(In my opinion): Overall, I'd look for a Non-cPanel host with a good reputation. It requires a highly competent technical team to design, build, and maintain a custom hosting platform. Most of your cPanel hosts are highly dependent on the data center technical team to solve deep problems that are outside the realm of the server they rent from them. e.g. network/power/hvac/fire suppression/etc etc...
