FQ down - what happened

This afternoon around 15 PM Central European Summer Time (9 AM in Florida), I noticed that my websites and email were down. I checked and the internet checker showed FQ website as unreachable as well.

Now, 22:45 my time, or 16:40 Florida time, parts of the FQ website came back up and now, since 22:55, the FQ forums are back up, so are my websites, but my email is still out.

Can you please tell us what is happening, and why there are no alarm updates on the FQ forum under Notices & Alerts?

Last year or two years ago, FQ had a similar problem, and owners asked to be kept better updated. I know that your first priority is to get the things working, but it takes about one minute to write a message under Notices & Alerts, stating that you have a problem, you are busy with it, and this will be updated regularly.

Now, all the FQ notices, security alerts, and announcements etc are more than a month (or even years) old.

Please keep us informed.

Re: FQ down - what happened

There have been posts on Twitter:

Apparently a power supply issue.

But! It seems that the backup power supply has again failed.

FQ: Is the backup supply tested, at least every month?

Re: FQ down - what happened

The entire network, which includes our forums, was down following a local power outage reported here:

As we could not post to the forums, notice of the outage and updates were communicated on our facebook page and twitter feeds.

Re: FQ down - what happened

The generator failure will be discussed in the main forum post as part of a full post-op once the Technicians have all services restored.
