I have a user STILL getting this identical error on Chrome on Android.
I can't reproduce it, but one or two others have noticed it, but seem to be fixed.

Was able to do some digging over the weekend and found the problem. Because Let's Encrypt switched to ISRG Root X1 at the end of September, older operating systems don't recognize the new root. So basically, you need to update your OS or you'll have to deal with the error if you can't.

While not appropriate for most normal users, if you're super techie & determined to keep using your old machines, you can probably install the root certificate for ISRG Root X1 yourself, as I had to on one machine and mentioned in this forum post.

I hate how SSL is being used to make perfectly usable hardware prematurely obsolete. I've left regular HTTP open on my websites so that retro-computing users can still get to my site. Still accessible from a Pismo G3 PowerBook!
