[FQuest Alert] SEVEN Server

The SEVEN server has suddenly failed to communicate with the network. A remote power cycle did not solve the problem. The problem could be anything from a bad cable to a bad network port on either end. I am heading in to determine the problem.

Re: [FQuest Alert] SEVEN Server

Well, this is strange. Apparently it started talking again while I was in transit. I did a quick reboot so all the stuff that uses the network for configuration information will be correct. It is back up at this time.

But since I came all the way down here in rush hour traffic I will be doing more that hopefully won't be noticed. I plan to at least wiggle the network cable at both ends to see if it cuts out again then I plan to run a second cable to the second NIC so there will be a backup I can turn on from remote if needed.

Re: [FQuest Alert] SEVEN Server

The link light was out on the primary NIC but on on the secondary. Rather than changing the network configuration like I expected I might have to do from home I just swapped the cables and it came right back. So the problem seems to be either the network cable or the switch port.

Guess I will run another test cable.
