mySQL password change unlinked my website

So, in the process of seeing if I could update mySQL yesterday, I changed the password to get into the mySQL page. Now my website isn't talking to my database and it's completely down. Is there a quick fix here, or have I really screwed up?

Re: mySQL password change unlinked my website

Your web application(s) use the same username and password to access your MySQL as you do. So, if you change your password you have to also inform your web app(s) of the new password. Usually by editing a config file for the app like wp-config.php or WordPress.

BTW, if you are changing your MySQL password because you don't know what it is you will have much better luck finding it in a config file since if you change it you will have to find it in all your config files (or find it in one so you can change it back).

Also BTW, yours is in wp-config.php and in .htgg9jg6.appconfig.php which was probably just made by the WP installer as it doesn't have all the info.

Re: mySQL password change unlinked my website

So, I tried changing to the new password and that wasn't working. I sacrificed my wife's Yorkie to the Tech gods, and that wasn't working. So, I went and saw my old password and changed the mySQL back to the old password and it worked. Anyone know where I can find a silver Yorkie, quick?
