Increased bounce messages and mailing lists?

Have other people been getting more reports of bounce warnings on their mailing lists? I've had a couple of people get in touch recently. Also, I noticed that more people have left the list. Could it be that probes have lead to them being removed from the list?

Thoughts?
TIA
Erica

Re: Increased bounce messages and mailing lists?

If you go down the path of using a third party mailing list provider, I've been fairly happy with MailChimp (aka MailKimp), though some recent policy changes there made me also consider MailerLite. MailChimp seems to have grown into a big corporate behemoth focused more on retargeting marketing, sadly.

If you switch to a third party, you'll also need to look into doing all the SPF / DKIM stuff in your DNS that "authorizes" those services to send mail on behalf of your domain.

Re: Increased bounce messages and mailing lists?

Thanks to both of you! I do use MailChimp for one of my lists. And reviewing their policy changes is on my list of things to do.

However, the ezmlm lists work fine for other projects/clients. I discovered a few things thanks to FutureQuest's helpful replies to a ticket. I'm including them in case someone else didn't know.

Locating and understanding your logs.

How ezmlm handles bounces.

Now I have learned that Verizon/AOL/Yahoo refused some messages leading to 50+ addresses being dropped from the list. I recognized a couple and asked them privately if they meant to leave the list.

Is it appropriate for me to contact the dropped addresses? (For those who aren't my friends.)

Thanks,
Erica

Yes, it is appropriate.
