Our sincere apologies for not getting to this thread and addressing the concerns of you all much sooner, we have no excuse for disregarding this discussion for as long as we did.
As to notifications of emergencies in the future - whereas we previously only had one person monitoring our Twitter accounts, we now have three individuals (in addition to our sysAdmin) who share that responsibility. Our Twitter accounts are:

Since acquiring
https://twitter.com/FutureQuest, it is our preferred account for communication (but we will respond to both).
Our sysAdmin is also looking into setting up a private server with a site hosted independently of our network where emergency notifications can be posted and our forums could be temporarily redirected in the event of a catastrophic outage. This was mentioned several weeks ago and is still a work in progress as it was of lower priority compared to the SAN work and power supply replacements that required our immediate attention. When it is established, we will make an announcement here on our Forums.
