Digital Download options

Hello all,
I've recently finished making a 5 hour and 20 minute DVD and my customers are now asking for a digital download. I've watched a bunch of videos and have installed Easy Digital Downloads.
I have a few questions:
First of all, I'm pretty concerned about theft of my intellectual property. I have searched in vain, but have yet to find a good explanation of why someone can't download my videos and simply share them with a friend. I'm certain that Hollywood has solved this and maybe I'm overthinking it, but I really need to understand that this can't happen.
Secondly, these are pretty big files (on the order of 4-6GB) and my site isn't letting me upload anything over 64MB. If I were to use something like a zip file, would that hinder a customer from being able to easy play the video on their end? I also see that uploading a URL is an option, so, is it a viable alternative to upload these files to Youtuve or Vimeo, keep the URL unlisted and use that for the download? It sure seems like all someone would have to do is copy and paste that URL to allow access to anyon. Am I wrong?
Thanks in advance.
Daniel

Re: Digital Download options

Hello Daniel,

I can't address all of this however I would recommend searching for a dedicated file transfer provider for this. 4-6GB is really a large download and could cause your site to exceed it's bandwidth use fairly quickly and lead to increased costs.

From a technical point of view this would be a better option:

However as to the security aspect I cannot address...
