IRM/IRO Basics

Hello-

I am changing my business name and thus my domain name (business2-db.com). I'd like to keep my old domain name (business1.com) and emails active but just linked with the new domain name.

Is this a case where I should use IRM? If I do IRM, then when someone types in my new domain name (business2-db.com) in their address bar will it change to my original domain name (business1.com) when it takes them to my website? I'd prefer for the name not to change in their address bar but would basically like both names to point to the same website. I do want to have unique email addresses for both business though.

Hello,

An IRO would allow a second domain name to show the same content as the existing domain.

The address in the Browser location bar would reflect the domain that your visitor typed in and would not change unless you implemented a .htaccess redirect or your internal links referred to the different domain name.

You would be able to have unique email addresses for each domain, as noted here:
