How to install WordPress...

Any step by step info on how to install WP in a FQ directory available? All I've been able to find on the web is how to install on hosters that have Cpanel etc. "

Thanks for any suggestions.

Regards, Paul.

Hello Paul,

You can always install it manually as noted here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Installi...e_Installation

Or you can use the App manager in the CNC:

Re: How to install WordPress...

Thanks for those links Bob. Have looked at the 1st link previously, and watched several install videos, they all looks complicated and I get lost in the process. I would rather not have to deal with WordPress at all, over 2k files for cripe sake. For 2 weeks I've been reading, watching videos, have attempted to conceive a blog-like, simple text-based website and for the 200 or more hours I've put into WP has produced next to nothing, or the site just disappears even with backing up, saving as draft, publishing, using pre-configured sites, themes, plugins, for me it's been a horrible experience and my conclusion it's a wretched program. Have done the localhost thing with XAMP on my PC, and my Mac mini Server. Even after creating something on either OS, you still gotta jump through hoops to get it up on the server. If I could afford it I would use Dreamweaver or similar. Anyone who enjoys WP has my admiration. Sorry for the rant. My last hope is the 2nd link you supplied. Regards, Paul.

Re: How to install WordPress...

Hello

Are you having trouble logging into your ftp account? Or just uploading the files? It's really easy from the point you say you are at. I will be glad to assit in anyway that I can.

If you are logged in, use filezilla to browse to the wp files on your hard drive, then highlight all the files and folders then right click and select upload. It will take a few minutes.

Aftrer this is done, using your browser goto: http://your-site.com/wp-admin/install.php

Then follow the steps.

If that does not help, ask again. We will get it sorted.

Re: How to install WordPress...

That's very kind of you Inalilai. I appreciate your offer very much. I have installed WordPress in a directory using the App Manager Installatron. I'm using MAMPP localhost to rework my mess-up website and when finished, will likely as for your assistance in uploading to the directory. I don't like Wordpress, I find it non-intuitive and often lose my page even after saving as a draft, or publishing. I just want to do simple thing as in a blog site. Most of the themes are too complicated and don't do what I want, or they rigid and can't be changed.
This is the site: http://grass-roots-lawn-service.ca/179-2/

And this is the content for that site: http://www.chalet-by-the-lake-b-and-b.com/grass/

Re: How to install WordPress...

I would suggest using the Genesis Framework. But on looking at your business, it appears WP is overkill. Dreamweaver would be easier for what appears to be a small business that does not need more than five pages to tell its story.

Wow. Since 1999.
Thank you for the suggestion, mromero, I'll look into Genesis Framework.
