Help with logs

I have a contact form on a new (WordPress) site. It's worked in testing except for on a phone using Safari. The person filled out the form, got through reCaptcha but when she hit send, nothing happened. She's tried a few times.

I found the part of the log for that day that shows a POST at the time she would have tried this. But I don't know what to do next. I don't know how to interpret what I'm seeing in the log.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Erica

Re: Help with logs

The most important thing in the access log is the result code which is a 3-digit number immediately after "POST /somefile HTTP/1.1". 200 is a success which would mean that the script worked correctly and something went wrong somewhere else (like spam filtering or wrong email address). Otherwise, more information would be in the error log or the script error log as the access log doesn't get much detail.

Re: Help with logs

Thanks. It does say 200. I looked in other logs but couldn't find anything for that time.

Re: Help with logs

That means the script thought it did what it was supposed to do. Since you took the time to find the right hit in the web log that means you also know the exact time. If you send an email to the service desk and include that log entry and any details you know about what was submitted to the form we can check and see what happened on the email server at the time.
