Problem with WordPress site

Hi,
I'm using an event plugin on a new WP site. I keep getting this error message:
HTTP ERROR 500
Any thoughts?
Thank you, Erica

Hello Erica,

I would check the documentation for the plugin and see what the requirements are.

It's possible the plugin's server requirements don't mesh with the FutureQuest servers?

Thanks, Bob. It seemed to work yesterday but I'll check.

Re: Problem with WordPress site

From what I could find FQ has whatever the plugin needs. I've sent a support request to the makers of the plugin. But just in case, is there an events calendar plugin for WordPress that someone highly recommends?

Thanks!

Erica I use the "All-in-One Event Calendar" plugin on one of my sites, not sure what functionality you are looking for but it serves my needs

Re: Problem with WordPress site

That looks really good. Thanks. I wish I'd asked here before trying the plugin I'm using. So, now I'll ask first. Can anyone recommend a basic slider plugin? I want to show quilts in a slideshow. Ideally they'd resize well depending on screen size without me having to edit every slide. I know that there are sliders that let you do animations and have lots of text and layers but that's way more than I need.

If this question should go in a different post with a different subject line, I'll be happy to fix this.

TIA
Erica (I'd rather be quilting than editing quilt images!)

Genesis Studio Press has a built-in, basic slider. But there are other more sophisticated sliders. Some free. Some commercial. The sliders will slow down your website considerably and push down your ranking.

I would suggest not using sliders here. Other hosts, especially those devoted to WP use SSD drives, Nginx and HHTP/2 to make WP shine.

I hope that Fquest would consider offering a boutique WP tuned server plan. I would be the first customer in line.

* According to W3Techs, as of 24 July 2018, 28.5% of the top 10 million websites supported HTTP/2

Thanks for the feedback, mromero.

On further consideration, what I'm looking for is actually a photo gallery plugin. If anyone has any suggestions, thanks in advance.

WP has a basic photo gallery. But is is very limited. In the past I used NEXTGEN. But this is now slow and a little complicated.

I have been looking at Envira Gallery and may yet buy it. But I am reluctant as photo galleries in my case do not earn money and bog down WP with yet another plugin. If your are selling real estate or products it may well be a necessity.

Previously I used Dream Weaver to make my gallery and it was very fast and easy but that is old hat now.

Here is a review of the top WP galleries:
