Redirect in .htaccess not working

Redirect /http://friendstotheend.net/gallery.html http://friendstotheend.net/home/gallery


I have posted this line into .htaccess files for my website, both at very top and next folder down, "www". But the redirect is not working. Is there something wrong with the syntax? Or is it possible there are some "AllowOverride" settings somewhere else I need to edit?
