Coincidence or a scam?

I help manage a website for my quilt guild. From time to time we get a message that goes like this. I paraphrased and shortened considerably.

"I just taught my child to sew. We really like your links page and my child found it very helpful. My child found this other useful page and it would be great if you put it on your links page."

Sometimes there's a comment about the child's self esteem being helped by the inclusion of the link. The link is usually a generic sewing or quilting article on a website that has nothing to do with quilting or sewing: for example a site about real estate or getting loans. Since it's (possibly) from a child I typically add the link with a note that it was suggested by a young site visitor.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.
