Uninstall WordPress, could not connect to server

I searched and found and old but relevant post on this subject and replied to that post, but I'm starting a new thread here with the same issue:

Hi,

I found this thread and hoped it would help me, but it didn't.

I attempted to install WordPress in a subdirectory, but I apparently messed that up and installed (via the Installatron) it in /www. Otherwise the install went well and I was able to access WordPress.

Unfortunately, I have non-WordPress files on /www and I lost access to these. When I try to go to www.treatcfsfm.org I do not get my site, instead I get "Error: Could not connect to the server."

So I uninstalled WordPress, using the Installatron, and deleted the .htaccess file and the WP database, but still get the same error.

Any ideas on getting back to my former site?

Hello,

That error can indicate using the wrong password for MySQL.

Did you change your MySQL password by any chance when installing WordPress?

If so you would need to update the configuration file for any application you already had installed.
