I have an owner-operated business with one employee, myself, located in Birmingham, Alabama USA.
Since 1995, I have been in the business of supporting very small networks for homes and offices, removing viruses, troubleshooting problems, making repairs, etc. My business has been split between businesses and homes with about 80% being for home users.
Telephone book listings have ceased to produce enough business and I'm looking to have someone to develop and promote a site for me. I have absolutely no expertise in this area.
I get the usual spam from people and businesses in foreign countries who claim to be in that kind of business; but, I also hear the horror stories of people who have paid for this kind of work and got nothing or near nothing for their money. Example:
My son is in the heating and air business and has had to switch promoters three times in three years because of unsatisfactory results.
So how do I select a site developer and promoter and how do I know s/he's a good one?
