[FQuest Notice] Switchgear work

What: Network instability
When: 5/10/2016
Window: 12am to 6am

We are adding new switch trunk lines for additional networking capacity... This may cause instability with Spanning Tree Protocol as the switches de-converge and re-converge as new pathways are formed between our HP and Foundry networking gear... There is a remote chance of interoperability issues, that we will handle as quickly as possible... We are hoping for a smooth ride, but we are also prepared for any turbulence as well...

Re: [FQuest Notice] Switchgear work

We have finished installing the new switch trunk ports as well as all the configurations... There was some expected turbulence, but I worked really hard to keep the disturbance at <= 45 seconds, giving STP time to rework its link distribution for each topology change... The other network hits was from the peculiar necessity for Foundry switches needing a full reboot in order to activate new trunk links and for those I had to bounce them twice as I leapfrogged through our uplinks to isolate the paths and work on one set at a time to maintain connectivity...

Overall, this work has brought even more redundancy to our network, while increasing the overall switch-to-switch traffic capacity...

The network is stable and there should not be anymore STP flapping that causes disruptions...

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we upgrade our network capacity and resilience...
