Hello, again

Ten years after moving on to some other stuff (like a paycheck), my road has led me back to FutureQuest. Snooping around, I see many names I recognize from years ago; you knew me then as TVB.

I'm realizing today how much knowledge has washed itself away from the inside
of my skull.

My first order of business outside of waving hello is finding an easy to use, ideally free or low cost, FTP client for OSX. I spent all day trying to use the APP installer to load in WordPress. I wasn't successful; it keeps giving unable to connect errors. I am sure I am using the correct password so I must have something in the syntax incorrect. Finally, I decided to return to what I knew and that is using an FTP client to do stuff. I'll try again tomorrow with FTP.

My second conundrum is asking myself if I even need to use DBs to accomplish what I hope - I'm working on a long form news item about municipal government transparency through Open Public Records requests. Most of the files I am working with are PDFs which I want to have online. I'm thinking I might be better off using flat files for the site assuming I can make them searchable. The will be limited video which can go onto YouTube, and some audio files.

Your suggestions are very welcome.

Betsy
