Web Page Doesn't Open

When using my browser, if I try to pull up my web site (www.pinelandprints.com), all I get is a date and time banner. I'm sure I've done something wrong, I just don't know what it is. Can anyone help me? I've loaded my web page (called index.html) and if I look in the temporary file location I got in my activation letter, I can see it.

Re: Web Page Doesn't Open

Hello,

When I click that link I see:

Quote:
Pineland Prints

"Pineland Prints" was established by Denis and Barbara Dzurinko who have been lifelong residents of South Jersey and enjoy outdoor nature photography. Living and exploring within the boundaries of the New Jersey Pinelands has opened up some wonderful photographic opportunities of this unique ecosystem not duplicated anywhere else in the world. Nature photography can be enjoyed anywhere in this beautiful country and areas containing a mixture of untamed woods, wetlands, fields and ponds such as the South Jersey Pinelands are no exception. Flora and fauna abound. You just need to look.
And more.

Thanks Bob. That's exactly what it's supposed to say. I'll try some of the options you gave me. Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Web Page Doesn't Open

Thanks Bob, your recommendation worked. I can now see my web page. However, problem is that the pictures don't show up. There are spots for them identified as a little square block with an "X" in it. I thought I read on one of the forum entries that the pictures had to be loaded to my "www" directory. I loaded one as a trial but yet that picture doesn't show up on my web site. Does the file name in my web site have to match the filename in "www directory"? In other words, because my pictures are loaded on my home computer under "Library/My Pictures/web site pictures/*the Name" is that why it can't find them? Because its looking under www.index.html? If this is the problem, do I simply edit the location to show on the server?

Re: Web Page Doesn't Open

It appears your page is coded to look for the images on your hard drive and not the server...

you have:
src="../Pictures/Nikon%20Transfer%202/Birds%20Closeup/Hawks/Red%20Tail%20Hawk%201.JPG">

If that image is in your /www directory you would simply call it from:
src="Red Tail Hawk 201.JPG">

Now on a separate but related issue, it is always best to never use spaces when naming any file or folder for the web as different browsers deal with spaces differently and it is just best to use naming conventions like RedTailHawk201.JPG or Red_Tail_Hawk_201.JPG

Also note that .JPG is differerent then .jpg when you are coding for HTML, you want to be sure that you use the actual name of the image file including Upper-Lower case...

Re: Web Page Doesn't Open

Okay, thanks Bob. I guess I can make those changes using the "rename" command for the file name and the "edit html" command to point to it. I'm amazed as a newbie I actually understand everything you said. BTW, I didn't realize until just now that I'm in the thread for introducing myself and not the one for problems. Sorry..... I'll get it right next time. Thanks for your help!

Re: Web Page Doesn't Open

Hi again,

Not a problem on placement

You can change the file name for an image using the CNC File Manager and edit your HTML file as well as you indicated.
