Webcalendar is killing "Umlauts"

I trying to sync (ics) Mozilla Thunderbird (Plugin "Lightning") with the installed version of Webcalendar. Everytime after a sync, the "Umlauts" and the letters after the Umlauts are "killed". It doesn't make a difference if I switch to "German" or "German-UTF8".

I'm not sure if it's Webcalendars problem because I can save "Umlauts" in the calendar. Only after a sync, the problem occurs. Maybe an ICS-Problem?

Example before sync: "Termin fr Reifenmontage"
After sync: "Termin f"

I've searched the web for solutions but didn't find a functional fix for that. Replacing the Umlauts ( = oe) is not an option. One solution was that I should add "AddDefaultCharset UTF-8" in a .htaccess file in the root directory of Webcalendar. Now I'm getting strange symbols instead of the Umlauts.
