Recommendations for nontraceable websites

Hi Everyone,

Any recommendations for how to or where to set up a very small website that exposes the corrupt practices of a foreign corporation that is operating in a foreign country that is discrete enough that the foreign corp can't figure out who is operating the site and hire someone to come and slit the author's throat?

Yes this is a real question . The corp is a real estate developer in Central America and it sounds like they have very few scruples. I guess the law isn't either enough or is too slow and they are scamming a lot of people. Plus their practices have caused a lot of personal problems for one of my clients.

Of course the govt. can trace anything - so if the corp has enough $ I guess they could bribe someone... and if the client is going to post content, he's going to have to be careful not to give away who he (or she ) is by virtue of the information that is shared... but given that those precautions are taken, do you have any recommendations?

I'm actually not very sure that a small site like this would be very effective / would even be found by potential victims, but that is for the client to decide I guess. I think he is feeling powerless. His phone line has been cut (accidentally by their heavy equipment), the road he's been working to prep for the rainy season has been wrecked, his house is full of bugs because the guy that smokes them out can't get there. This is a tropical environment. I guess the developer did all this damage in just 4 days... and is operating without permits... so I'm not sure where the govt is, but I'm sure that is another story...

Any thoughts re the how-to in order for the client to stay anonymous?

thanks, Diane

Re: Recommendations for nontraceable websites

I have experience of something similar. I had a friend exposing the corrupt practices of a company in south america and basically the site just disappeared one day...they had friends in high places and the site was blocked in the whole country.

If your audience is international, you should be fine, but if you are targetting people in the country itself, this might be an issue for you.

Thanks for your response Neil.

The intended audience Is international - I think most of the homes that the company builds are for foreigners who have no idea that the company operates without permits. For those that don't care about the company's ethics, there is also personal risk to their investment ...

Or if anyone has any suggestions for other places that I can ask this question, that would be great. Thanks.

Re: Recommendations for nontraceable websites

Just in case anyone was thinking this subject is closed, it's not... it looks like it's going to be open for quite a while.

He's decided to think about it for a bit... to take some photos and gather the information... and in a couple months we're going to readdress what can be done

So if anyone sees this and has suggestions, please feel welcome to share. I'll continue to check back here from time to time.

thanks
