Drag and drop upload/download script?

I have a client that would like to be able to have their clients easily send files to them and then they can leave files for clients to download. They'd like to make this as much like the "Windows experience" as possible where they just have to drag a file from their local folder into their browser or from their browser to their local folder/desktop. Each client would have a password protected directory to keep just anyone from uploading files. Is there a script out there like this? Of course it has to be secure enough to fit into the FQ security guidelines. I'm thinking ajax, jquery?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Drag and drop upload/download script?

Why would you choose this route over an existing commercial hosted offering that will give you exactly the interface you're looking for?

Unless it's something geared toward accounting security they'd rather have control of it so they can tell their clients it's just between the two of them. Also cost is a consideration.

Re: Drag and drop upload/download script?

Joe, thanks for the details (they make a difference). Personally, I wouldn't keep accounting details on a shared server and you're really taking a providers word on it regarding how securely files are stored (I believe Dropbox was recently pointed to as a provider having no security).

With security being an issue, you'll probably want to look at providers that offer a client-side application that encrypts data prior to storage. You might find some solutions that utilize Amazon's S3 service (which is SAS70 compliant).

I'd recommend narrowing down your potential providers first, then soliciting feedback from a larger sampling size.
