Has anyone else here tried cloud flare -
www.cloudflare.com
I've been testing it for a few days now on a directory site and it seems interesting. As I understand it so far, it works like a distributed cluster / CDN squid cache in front of the actual web server. After a couple days it shows "14,467 requests saved by CloudFlare of 26,241 total requests; 158.2 MB bandwidth saved by CloudFlare of 335.1 MB total bandwidth." Other than the bandwidth/server load savings, the main advantage is that the cached data is moved closer to your visitors in theory providing a speed-up despite the extra layer introduced. The basic service is free right now and also includes a "bot / spammer" block based on behavior across the cloudflare network. I haven't used it enough to know if there are any glitches or other drawbacks; I was pretty skeptical that it would be more trouble than it was worth, but so far it seems quite interesting.
(obvious caveats are that you have to keep the dns updated and your uptime would be dependent on the cloudflare network in that you're introducing this additional layer between your visitors and the actual webserver)
