BestBuy.com hosted in Germany?!?

Flagfox is reporting that http://www.bestbuy.com is in Germany. How weird is that?

Their SSL site is in the U.S., though.

Looks to me like their web site uses akam.net (Akamai) for content distribution. You probably just got a German node when you connected. It will probably be different tomorrow.

Why would it be weird for Best Buy to be hosted offshore?

Many companies are based in one jurisdiction, do business worldwide and maybe leave their options open for web hosting?
