Have you tried the Adsense preview tool to see the kind of ads that are being run in China, Iran and Saudi?
No. I can't really control which ads are shown and if they are not targeted well to the search terms there is little I can do.

I did a lot of ad placement testing several years ago and found that the arrangement I use on all the other pages is optimal. In fact I doubled my income at that time by optimizing that way. I tried this new arrangement that you now see on the proxy pages just a few days ago hoping that may work better, but there has been no change, still near zero. The click through rate is so low that you might expect more accidental clicks than I actually get.

What I was hoping for with this thread is possibly an alternative to AdSense that may appeal more to that particular kind of traffic. I may begin analyzing the way the proxy sites monetize their traffic, some do use AdSense.

The crazyegg.com tracking is a good idea, I'll try that tomorrow. Or perhaps I'll try the MyBlogLog script which may be an equivalent since I already subscribe there. I'll compare those two tomorrow, right now I'm near the end of my day. The only time I tried Google analytics a while back I experienced a sudden and serious drop in income and so removed it immediately which fixed the problem. Maybe I'll try again on just those pages since there's nothing to lose.

That was a good suggestion Jarrod, thanks.

Re: Business question...

Drop the Google Ads and try to put Amazon (or similar) book ads on these pages. Try to make an advertizing agreement with some commercial video tutorial provider (vtc.com, lynda.com, hwg.org, etc. ) or with an online university selling related courses. Technically minded people are quite interested in educating themselves especially in distance education and online training.

Re: Business question...

Book or educational ads sound like a good idea. I didn't do well with Amazon apparel but books might work. Thanks.
