Re: Bill Gates and Jerry

Yeah, I saw that one yesterday, too. Here's the link if someone else wants to watch it:

It's hard to say this, but the first one was definitely better. I can't see where they are trying to go with this. If the public doesn't "get" the advertising campaign, can it still work?

Re: Bill Gates and Jerry

It sure is peculiar so far. With the "connecting with real people" stuff in this one it sounds more like a buildup for Windows 7 than a Vista ad.

Otherwise, you have to wonder if they left off the "Vista" part of the logo to avoid bringing in all of the baggage that goes with it.

Well, that didn't last long.

"Microsoft drops Seinfeld, to target 'Get a Mac' with new ads."

Re: Bill Gates and Jerry

The writers tried to create an "about nothing" ad and thought it would be as good as Seinfeld. I'm glad people don't like it. Imagine if they did. I'd have to move somewhere.

I'm thinking that The Adventures of Bill and Jerry series of ads may begin to make more sense as we see more of them, as though 10-12 of them may add up to the equivalent of an old Seinfeld episode. The first several minutes of a sitcom can be dull until things start to tie together. Especially if it doesn't always just go for the quick cheap laugh like on the old Seinfeld show. I'm not saying the old show was intellectual or anything, just that many of the gags were a lot more complex and took longer to develop than on your average sitcom.

Well, maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. If it's Bill directing the creative work we may be seeing the Microsoft version of advertising hell. Poor Jerry, well at least now he'll be able to buy another fleet of Porsches and a Gulfstream or two, maybe a gentleman's cattle ranch in the Hamptons...

Re: Bill Gates and Jerry

That's a shame.

Enjoyed seeing Jerry again and enjoyed seeing a couple ads that were a little different than the norm.

Re: Bill Gates and Jerry

Just saw the most recent Microsoft ad on SNL. It is a parody of the Apple ads. They at least make more sense than the G&S ads. Bill Gates does a cameo in the new ad, claims like all the others to be a PC.
