thanks to Kevin and Terra

My site that started off as an IRM has now grown to the point it's on a pair of twinned servers. Recently, growing pains once again hit and the load was spiking the servers badly. Terra made some tweaks and Kevin installed some new hardware. Instantly, things returned to normal with my highest spike right at 2 or so on the servers. It's nice to be able to count on the FutureQuest team to keep my head above water. Thanks guys!

Nice! What new hardware did you get? Come on, come on, feed the geeks! Is your cluster one web and one database server, or something exotic? What kind of traffic are you pushing with the pair?

Re: thanks to Kevin and Terra

Kevin put in a new dual core CPU and Terra did some tweaks on the mysql engine. I push 400 to 500 gB a month on an almost purely vB based site. We normally have 700-800 concurrent visitors during the weekdays. If I make it past Monday at 1PM, I have it faded

Re: thanks to Kevin and Terra

Good job guys!
They've bailed me out of the deep end quite a few times. I believe Kevin will be stuck in the DC once again with some memory and hard drives of mine soon.

Slightly off topic, but I've noticed the QuestCams are showing the lights and such on in the DC. Somebody decide to move in?

I started leaving the lights on in the computer room because the row of shelves with tower computers has grown to the point that it blocks too much of the light that used to come in through the windows from the office area. It was just too dark to see anything on the cameras when I wasn't there with the lights on.

Ah that explains it. I noticed some darkening of the area but assumed it was just me. One would think all the flashy power/hdd lights would brighten things up.

Re: thanks to Kevin and Terra

Any day now, I expect this "little" site of Monty's to wake up, smell the electrons and take over the world. Or maybe it already has.

Re: thanks to Kevin and Terra

We have built up a rather nice "wall" of computers over there. I have not yet decided if the next shelf to go in will complete the wall or start a second one. That will be a little while though since the last one is fairly recent.

Re: thanks to Kevin and Terra

Holy cow! I just realized how much that shelf has grown. Those are mostly the MySQL, PT, etc machines aren't they?

I remember the days when cabinet 4 had one less server, that shelf area was empty, and the search for 15ft power cords.

FQ sure has grown in the 9 years I've been lurking around.

Edit:
I sure hope we get to see some more of those 20xx year in review threads again. Think 2005 or 06 was the last year one was seen.
