Affiliate advice

This section seems to be mostly about FQ affiliates, but I have questions about affiliates in general.

I've been linking to FQ for three years now but I've never felt that there would be enough revenue to justify the additional clerical overhead and that is probably still true for FQ.

Other parts of my site are now generating some significant traffic though and I'm thinking of changing my "no affiliates" policy and seeking women's swimwear affiliates immediately and more complete women's wear lines by fall.

Can anyone give me any advice about seeking and engaging affiliates? What is a good deal, what are the pitfalls, what should raise red flags, etc?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Andi

edit: I'm moving into an empty house tomorrow and I'm unsure of the utility situation so I may not be able to respond for a day or two...

Re: Affiliate advice

The only real advice I've got is to try and integrate the affiliate ads into your site content as much as possible. My most consistent (not saying much) affiliate advertising is art galleries of purchasable posters. Mere product listings seem to get little to no attention.

Re: Affiliate advice

That is good to know Dan, thanks.

The content of this particular swimwear page is a listing of online retail swimwear vendors and the Adsense on that page is doing well. I'm thinking of a banner. Also thinking of swimwear ecommerce next season.
