I've heard lots of people vote for fitness balls or posture balls as opposed to an Aeron, but having tried both I would definitely prefer the Aeron. I had no end of trouble with the balls, and it actually made the pain in my back worse. The Aeron has to be tweaked to your individual settings, and you have to be sitting in the right size Aeron for your body, but I at least found it incredibly comfortable once the right settings were dialled in for me.

I'm going to look at some chairs tonight -- ordinary ones, not round or lemur-oriented. Wish me luck.

I believe I have heard of people converting racing seats from cars into chairs. I know these seats fit like a glove and are very comfy, and I bet would make a great computer chair provided you mount them to something (perhaps the bottom end of a regular computer chair).

Sparco makes very good seats though at premium. Many other make seats at a lower price as well (not sure on comfort/quality).

I found this site that seems to have reasonably priced seats.

Anyhow just another idea.

Like this, but arm rests are good for the back.

You're not the only one with that idea, Brian.

Yeah I saw that and a few others, though at a few hundred bucks for a kit to convert a racing seat I bet one could gut an existing chair and make one and save $$

http://www.motorspot.com/seats.html has one on the bottom.

You have to keep in mind that you should keep your arms at your sides when typing (forearms ar right angles), not stretched out as if you're holding a steering wheel. Some racing seats might get in the way of your arms.

Racing seats are also designed to keep you from moving. I fail to see how that's a good thing for hours at a time in front of the computer.
