And PS, thanks for the weather station tips. I'm not sure we'll build one (I'm just personally curious about them right now) but if we do - it'll definately be self built like you suggest, not just Out of the Box.

Mandi & all, if you want direct links to that animation, use http://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/lat...wna.anim.3.gif. It predicts out to 180 hrs but anything after 72 is quite iffy.

Also http://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/lat...nah.anim.3.gif is the North Atlantic Hurricane animation, 72 hrs.

Do they make collars in hurricane sizes? ("No, Frances. No!")

She was CONSTANTLY smacking the edges of everything with that stupid cone.
We used to collar our dog to keep him from licking his hot spots. Finally gave up because of the kneecapping issue.

At least Samson's is kinda transparent. Ours were made out of milk-bottle plastic, so he couldn't see a bloody thing. And as dogs go, he's a klutz even when he doesn't have a lampshade on his head.

That's the first time I've seen a weather model posted on the web. Much geekier than radar.

The saddest (or maybe funniest, depending on your sense of humor) thing to see, is a dog that likes to play Fetch the Ball trying to pick up the ball w/ the cone on its head. Either they just smack the ball around with the cone under the chin . . . or trap the ball inside the cone (head down) and then don't know quite what to do next.

It's even funnier if you take the dog outside with the cone. (We quickly learned to take it off before going for a walk.) Trot-trot trot-trot WUMP -- cone face down on the ground as the dog stops very abruptly to sniff at Something of Interest to Dogs.

Oh com'on you guys.... get creative!

Funny on this side is when Chelsea (the shepherd) tries to play tug-o-war with Samson's Lampshade

And worse yet is when she holds the great big bone in front of his face teasing him because he can't even try to grab it

I see you folks down there are set for another storm. I hope Deb and Terra have hammocks to camp out at the Data Center this time - that or pick up a nice diesel genset for the house.

Some useful info here. You can't beat the navy in my opinion:

Yes indeed. I swore off controlling the weather because of the terrible headaches, but I'll give it another shot this week. That's the least I can do...

Deb, aren't you glad you live the middle of the state ... where you can get hit from both coasts?
