Frances

Ok, it appears that hurricane Frances is going to be headed towards Florida, of course this is right after Charley. Everyone preparing for this? It looks pretty bad too. Seems you Floridans can't get a break.

La La La La La La La La La

Actually, I'm just in denial right now , but I promise to get my act together very shortly. I'll think about it tomorrow, to paraphrase Scarlett O'Hara. At least I'll have help this time. (Maybe - we're at the whim of Uncle Sam there.)

LOL Mandi!! and a High Five

There's several things out there on the spin cycle in the Atlantic right now...

Favorite Image of the current spin is at:
http://www.picolio.com/Albums/HurricaneMisc/HUWV.jpg

I modified one of the forecast paths for Frances on Saturday morning with my own guesstimated path... you can see my guess at:
http://www.picolio.com/Albums/Hurric...rack_Guess.gif

So far the forecasters have basically followed the same general idea I posted up... I'm hoping they keep east of my path and continue to send her north and then out....

I, and several others, believe she's going to get close enough to make us all begin biting our nails but then turn north northeast and go away...or hit up in the SC/NC states which they certainly do not need as they are dealing with hurricane Gaston right now and have another whirl developing right behind him.

Frances has a lil threat whirling in front of her as well but I think that too will get lost out there in the Atlantic.

Positive thinking is on our side, as well as the extreme improbability of a storm striking central FL twice in the same year. Besides...I already put my foot down and said "NO!"

Nevertheless, the generators are full, the hurricane shutters remain in the locked up tight position and the freezer is full of ice We'll take whatever Mother Nature wants to throw at us and do our best to keep the lemonade stand open.

Let's just hope everyone stays safe this season...before, during, and after each storm.

I like this link for general hurricaine/tropical storm tracking. It's not super detailed, but it lets you know if you should be watching something more closely or not:

Weather Center - click on the active system you're interested in, and you'll get a Flash page that lets you slide back and forth across the Atlantic, and watch systems develop, or become insignificant. If you mouse over the track, you'll get a little drop down window of more specific storm info - lat/long, storm category, windspeeds, etc.

I've seen Betsy and she's quite a speciman.

Betsy in a pot

Deb sent me a link late last week to my super secret address and I got it today

Betsy

PS...I like that she is a little bit bent at the trunk...it's quite appropriate

It's a remarkable likeness.

Speaking of things named Betsy, I was just reading this:
Quote:
Products made available for extensive testing by Route 66 helped one Dutch family travel between Amsterdam and northwest Spain, a distance of some 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles). The product, which speaks in a female voice when giving directions, quickly earned the nickname "Betsy."
I bet their Betsy doesn't come in that nice shade of green, though.
