Fun facts about Joliet Illinois

I'm moving to Joliet., so I decided to read up on the town.

Pronouncing Joliet in a way other than "Joe Lee Ett" is a misdemeanor punishible by a $15 fine (up from the original $5 fine).

It is also illegal for a woman to try on more than six dresses in one store (up from the original three).

No wonder they have so many places of incarceration.

good thing that town isn't in Texas, because anyone here would pronounce it "olay"

Well, it's the name of that weird file naming system used on CD-R's. The other day I write a little script to find out why Nero said there was a Joliet name conflict when I was trying to back up some files from a Win98 computer. Turns out a file name should not be more than n characters, or m with the full path included. (64 and 256? I don't have my reference with me.) Seems like Nero should have been able to rename them nicely for me.

And that is my Joliet story.

Heart of American literature, that Mississppi River. Cairo, Memphis, Alexandria... very much like another river I've heard about.

I'll add this triva, it seems there's a Shakespeare connection.
