The tables have been surgically separated. The site looks good in NS4 -- how's it for you?

Sorry, I think I sent you down the wrong path (but, it's not a bad idea to seperate the tables, still.) Is there nothing different in the header table code from the one you had posted? I went to look at the code, but the page was taken down for renovations :)
<td valign="top" width="50%" bgcolor="#333366"> </td>
somehow does not seem right. It's not really 50%, is it?

I don't think so, aside from some superfluous align="left" attributes in the <table> tags (no idea why I did that).
Here's another page with just the header and footer, but with the tables separated: http://www.dickcommer.com/adworks-test2.php.
I've got a vertical problem now, but that has something to do with the way I separated the tables.

I could reproduce the problem in Outlook Express with Create Mail > Web Page. I've used Outlook Express to simulate IE 5 in the past. In fact, I had the same problem with a gap and used Outlook Express to debug it without IE 5. I added the following comment to LinkStructor to remind me:
" ### "padding-left" is needed in div.Block_Width for IE 5.5 and for emailing web page in Outlook Express to prevent gap between left and right heading sections"
Play with extra padding.

Ack! Lots more than a simple 3-pixel gap there. Don't even wanna know what that's about.
Still see a gap on that test page, Evie?

Now I've take out everything but the header. I presume it hasn't changed the gap...?

Anyway, the pesky thing is still there. I've emptied my cache, and quit and restarted IE, too. Sorry.

Now I'm paring down the header itself. Is it helping?
